Another Two Steel Plants Report Same Accident after Fire at Benxi Steel

Another two steel plants reported fire as well shortly after a fire broke out at Benxi Steel on September 1, SMM learned.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 4 (SMM) – Another two steel plants reported fire as well shortly after a fire broke out at Benxi Steel on September 1. 

Hebei Baosheng Iron & Steel reported a fire caused by cable failure, SMM learned. It was reported earlier that the fire was triggered by explosion at blast furnace iron liquid outlet, but this is not the real case, SMM confirmed. Cable is now under maintenance, while blast furnace is still under normal operation.

At around 10:30 am on September 3, Wu’an 2672 Steel Plant reported a fire. The plant has not disclosed cause of the fire. SMM will continue tracking the accident to find out more.
