Rising BDI Brings Shipping Industry to Break-Even Point

SHANGHAI, Aug. 29 (SMM) – Shipping industry has reached a break-even point and shown signs of recovery in terms of current BDI, industry insiders noted.

The Baltic Dry Index (BDI) has been rising steadily since August and hit this year’s highest level.

As of August 25, the BDI reached 1,209 points, up 30% from beginning of this year and up four folds from early last year.

Shipping market will improve further next year along with easing overcapacity, industry insiders predicted.
