China’s rare earth market will witness supply shortages during the second half of 2017, said Ma Rongzhang, Secretary General of Association of China Rare Earth Industry. 

SHANGHAI, Aug. 29 (SMM) – China’s rare earth market will witness supply shortages during the second half of 2017, said Ma Rongzhang, Secretary General of Association of China Rare Earth Industry. 

“The shortages will be due mainly to policy factor, and demand from rare earth permanent magnet sector will not be met, and import volumes of ores will likely grow obviously in the second half,” Ma added at the 9th China Baotou International Rare Earth Forum. 

It is reported that crackdowns on illegal mining in the rare earth sector will be continuing.
