Ignition Battery Producers Show Divergent Operation Conditions, SMM Reports

Ignition battery producers in Zhejiang cut output to 60-70%, and those in Hubei held operating rate at around 80%, while battery producers in Hebei were operational fully.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 22 (SMM) – In Zhejiang, distributors purchased based on orders, resulting in modest demand. But, local ignition battery producers reduced operating rates to 60-70% due to environmental checks.

Lead Spot Transaction Improves after Price Drops, SMM Reports

End-user demand in ignition battery market in Hubei was sluggish, and distributors were wary of stock-building. Local battery producers held operating rates at around 80%, and purchased lead based on orders.

However, battery producers in Hebei were operational fully as improving end-user demand increased orders. Those producers bought lead mainly under term contracts.

Production will resume from September 17, 2026. The company previously disclosed that at approximately 9:45 a.m. on August 1, 2026, a roof fall accident occurred in an underground stope access at the Fankou lead-zinc mine, resulting in one fatality. After the accident, the company received the "Notice on Ordering the Fankou Lead-Zinc Mine to Suspend Production" issued by the Shaoguan Emergency Management Bureau, and the Fankou lead-zinc mine suspended production in accordance with the notice.
