SHANGHAI, Aug. 17 (SMM) – On Thursday, SHFE 1710 copper opened at RMB 51,370/mt and then surged to RMB 51,670/mt. Later, the contract fell back to RMB 51,320/mt. During the afternoon trading, SHFE 1710 copper kept falling with longs taking profits and rallied before closing at RMB 51,470/mt, up RMB 1,380/mt or 2.76%. Positions rose 7,080 to 235,000 and trading volumes were up 204,000 to 425,000 lots. Positions of all SHFE copper contracts rose 16,266 to 713,000 and trading volumes increased 313,000 to 625,000.
