Zinc Inventories in Three Markets Stay Low, SMM Reports

TCs of domestic zinc concentrate (50%) traded at 3,900-4,400 yuan per tonne (zinc content, price to factory) this past week, almost flat at the previous week’s level. TCs for imported zinc concentrate (50%) traded around $50-60 per dry metric tonne, SMM data show.

Zinc to See Technical Fallback, SMM Foresees

Domestic zinc concentrate TCs will hold steady in the near term given ore tightness and high profit at zinc smelters, SMM predicts.

According to the latest customs data, China’s total exports of die-casting zinc alloy from January to February reached 689.33 mt, up slightly by 0.9 percentage points YoY on a cumulative basis; imports, however, totaled 48.11 million mt, down 35.46 percentage points YoY on a cumulative basis. Overall, China’s die-casting zinc alloy trade from January to February showed a pattern of slightly higher exports and a significant pullback in imports.
