SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Salt Lake City, Utah-headquartered premier scrap metal recycling and transloading company Metro Group Inc. has announced that it has acquired the assets and locations of Ogden, Utah-based Allied Metals Inc. This is the third acquisition by Metro Group during the past one year. Earlier in October last year, it had acquired Missouri-based Arrow Metals Trading. Later in January this year, it had announced acquisition of assets of Idaho-based North American Recycling.
By combining its assets with the acquired facility, it hopes to further augment its growth in the region and offer better services to its existing and new customers belonging to Northern Utah region. The company announced that its existing Ogden yard will be moved to the Allied location at 555 W 12th St, Ogden as early as possible during this month. This relocation would offer better access and greater benefits to customers, it noted.
Mark Bond, president of Metro Group stated that the new acquisition is expected to turn out to be a great fit for expanding the operations at its recently opened yard in Ogden. Bond noted that the location of the Allied Metals facility at one of the busiest streets in Ogden will provide big boost to its business growth in domestic and international markets.
Metro Group had acquired Arrow Metals Trading, a family-owned brokerage company located in St. Louis in October 2016. Apart from this strategic acquisition which granted access to several business partners throughout the world, the company had also expanded its presence in Idaho through acquisition of assets belonging to locally owned and operated North American Recycling Inc., as full service ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal yard that processes southwestern Idaho and eastern Oregon.
Metro Group Inc. has existed since early 1900’s. The company which started its operations as a retailer of new steel products later shifted its focus to recycling. Since then, it has emerged as one of the leading scrap recycling service provider in the Utah region. As of today, the company is a multi-dollar business spread across eight facilities in Utah, Nevada and Idaho. Metro Group Inc. also has a trading office in Missouri. The family-owned business is presently run by fourth and fifth generation members.
