NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States shredded scrap average weekly prices remained stable during the week ended June 16, while major US aluminum scrap commodities weekly average prices on Scrap Register Price Index showed a flat trend.

According to the Steel Index, US Weekly Shredded Scrap Index remained flat on the week, at $296 a long ton. Ferrous markets in the US remains subdued, awaiting the outcome of the section 232 investigation into import duties. 

This combined with the month of Ramadan calming the Turkish market has led to a dearth of trading activity. Market sentiment for the July buy week remains uncertain, with prices in Turkey strengthening currently, but no clear outlook on direction in the longer term.

The weekly average prices of major US aluminum scrap commodities like 356 auto wheels, 5052 alum clip, 6061 alum extrusion, 6063 extrusion, al/cu rad with iron, al/cu radiator, alum breakage, alum litho sheets, alum old sheet, alum rad with iron, alum radiator, alum transformer, alum transmission, alum turning and mix alum casting on the Scrap Register Prices Index during the week.
