Glencore Lowers Annual Output Targets for 2017

Glencore lowers annual output targets of copper, lead and nickel for 2017.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 27 (SMM) – In the first half of 2017, copper output at Glencore fell 9% YoY to 642,900 tonnes. Nickel output dropped 10% YoY to 51,200 tonnes at the same period, due largely to unit maintenance at Murrin and INO mines which offset output expansion at Koniambo mine.

In other news, the company has lowered annual output targets for 2017, with that of copper down 25,000 tonnes or 2% to 1.31-1.36 million tonnes because of output at Alumbrera mine.

Annual output target of lead is reduced by 15,000 tonnes to 275,000-295,000 tonnes, due to output target change at Australian mine.

The company in face of repeatedly unit maintenance in 1H 2017 also decreased annual output target of nickel to 75,000-155,000 tonnes, down by 5,000 tonnes or 4%.
