21st July, 2017-North American Scrap Metal Prices Except Copper Held Steady on Index

The North American copper scrap prices remained mostly unchanged on ScrapMonster Price Index  as on July 21st, Friday.

TORONTO (Scrap Monster): The North American copper scrap prices remained mostly unchanged on ScrapMonster Price Index  as on July 21st, Friday. Aluminum and Steel scrap prices witnessed no change on Index. Copper scrap prices registered marginal increase, whereas Stainless Steel, Brass scrap and Bronze scrap prices held steady on Index when matched with the day before.

Copper Scrap Prices

The price of Alternator scrap remained unchanged over the previous day. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing rose by $0.01 per Lb. #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices were also up by $0.01 per Lb. The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright went higher by $ 0.01 per Lb.

The prices of #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery remained unchanged over the previous day. #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices were also flat on Index. #3 Copper-Light copper prices edged higher by $0.01 per Lb to touch $2.27 per Lb.

The prices of Copper Radiator scrap reported no change relative to previous day’s levels. Copper Transformer Scrap prices did not see any price variation. CuYokes and Cu/Al Radiator Ends prices too witnessed no change from the previous day.

Meanwhile, the prices of Cu/Al Radiators and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe remained steady on July 21st, 2017.

Heater Cores and Harness Wire 35% Recovery prices were flat on Index.

Romex Wires prices witnessed no change over the previous day.

The prices of Scrap Electric Motors, Starters, Sealed units and Xmas Lights too reported no change from previous day price levels.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

1100 Scrap prices remained flat over the day. The prices of 3003 Scrap too were flat at $0.63 per Lb. The prices of 356 Aluminum Wheels and 6063 Extrusions/Fe too were unchanged.

The prices of 6063 Extrusions held steady over the day.

Meantime, prices of 5052 Scrap and 6061 Extrusions remained flat at $0.60 per Lb and $0.58 per Lb respectively.

The prices of Al/Cu Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators/Fe remained flat. Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Radiators/Fe prices held steady. Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery prices remained unchanged on 21st July, 2017.

E.C Aluminum Wire prices declined slightly by $0.01 per Lb over the day.

Chrome Wheels, Litho Sheets and MLC Clips held steady at $0.54 per Lb, $0.63 per Lb and $0.61 per Lb respectively.

Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices too remained unchanged.

The prices of Old Cast and UBC witnessed no change over the previous day.

Old Sheet, Painted Siding and Zorba 90% NF prices too held flat.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 Bundle prices remained flat at $350 per MT.

The prices of #1 Busheling and #1 HMS too reported no change on 21st July, 2017.

HMS 80/20 prices held steady at $265 per MT.

Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap and Structural Steel also saw no change in prices when compared with the previous day.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS and 301 SS prices held steady.

304 SS Solid prices remained unchanged at $0.48 per Lb over the previous day. 309 SS prices too reported no change in prices.

304 SS Turning witnessed no variation in prices on 19th July, 2017.

310 SS and 330 SS prices saw no change in prices from the previous day.

Meantime, 316 SS Solid prices were flat at $0.68 per Lb.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in the North American region held steady on Index.

70/30 Brass Scrap, 80/20 Brass Scrap, 85/15 Brass Scrap and Brass Radiator scrap prices reported no change in daily prices on July 21st, 2017.

Brass Radiator /Fe and Brass Radiator Ends prices remained flat over the day.

Red Brass, Red Borings and Yellow Brass prices too remained unchanged on Index.

The domestic steel market strengthened WoW, with key steel and scrap prices rising, supported mainly by higher raw material costs. Despite the weekly gains, market activity was slower at the start of this week due to the Ganesh Chaturthi festival with some buyers and market participants remaining inactive. Toward the end of the week, price momentum eased, with most prices flat to slightly lower. Mandi billet rose by 11.47USD/tonne (1,100INR/tonne) week on week to 500.56USD/tonne (48,000INR/tonne) delivered Mandi. In Mandi Gobindgarh, HMS 1&2 (80:20) rose by 9.38USD/tonne (900INR/tonne) to 408.79USD/tonne (39,200INR/tonne) delivered Mandi. Rebar prices increased by 14.60USD/tonne (1,400INR/tonne) to 532.94USD/tonne (51,100INR/tonne) EXW Raipur. PDRI sponge iron prices unchanged at 307.66USD/tonne (29,500INR/tonne) EXW Raipur Alang Melting up by 5.21USD/tonne (500INR/tonne) to 398.39USD/tonne (38,200INR/tonne) ex-yard Alang. Steel prices may remain firm in the coming week amid higher raw material costs.

[India Domestic] India’s domestic steel market remained largely stable with some prices edging lower while finished steel prices were mostly unchanged. Buying remained cautious keeping near-term demand subdued, while supply remained adequate. Mandi HMS 1&2 (80:20) down by 2.08USD/tonne (200INR/tonne) to 388.18USD/tonne (37,200INR/tonne) delivered Mandi. Rebar prices up by 3.13USD/tonne (300INR/tonne) to 546.80USD/tonne (52,400INR/tonne) EXW Mumbai. While Raipur rebar unchanged at 533.20USD/tonne (51,100INR/tonne) EXW Raipur. PDRI sponge iron flat at 307USD/tonne (29,500INR/tonne) EXW Raipur for the third consecutive day. Bellary PDRI sponge iron prices edged down with buyers bidding around 319.29-320.33USD/tonne (30,600–30,700INR/tonne). Some deals were concluded at these levels, while sellers with good order books were unwilling to reduce their offers below 323.46USD/tonne (31,000INR/tonne). A few sellers were offering as high as 326.59-328.68USD/tonne (31,300–31,500INR/tonne), according to sources.

[SMM Steel] Indian HRC Export Offers Hold Firm; Imported Scrap Prices Remain Stable
[India Export] Firm domestic HRC prices in Europe and the onset of the region’s peak-demand season kept Indian sellers bullish. Indian HRC export offers were no lower than 640USD/tonne FOB India, with some exporters targeting as high as 660USD/tonne FOB. Levels for North Europe were heard at around 730USD/tonne CFR. However, no fresh transactions were confirmed as importers and exporters continued to await clarity on the quotas. Still, Indian sellers remained unwilling to lower their offers, also citing firm domestic prices. Domestic HRC was last heard at around 668USD/tonne (64,000INR/tonne) ex-yard Mumbai and 626–632USD/tonne (60,000–60,500INR/tonne) EXW, excluding GST. Billet export indications remained around 470USD/tonne FOB India, although no fresh billet transactions were confirmed. In the raw-material market, US-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) was indicated at 370–380USD/tonne CFR India, while UK-origin material stood at 375–390USD/tonne CFR. US-origin shredded was at 410–415USD/tonne CFR, while UK-origin shredded stood at 400–415USD/tonne CFR. Indian import buying remained cautious amid festival-season disruptions and changes to PSIC procedures.
