SHANGHAI, Jul. 7 (SMM) - China’s refined zinc output jumped 8.8% on-month to 457,000 tonnes in June, but declined 0.8% on a yearly basis, according to SMM data.
China’s refined zinc output in the first six months of the year was 2.59 million tonnes, a drop of 2.52% on a yearly basis.
Zinc production shot up in June because some zinc smelters’ output recovered after maintenance and environmental protection checks. Besides, their profit rose due to higher domestic zinc concentrate TCs. The high reservoir level also inspired their production.
Zinc smelters in Huayuan County, Hunan posted big gains in output. Guangxi Hechi Nanfang Nonferrous Metals, Shaanxi Dongling Industry & Trade Group and Western Mining Co. finished maintenance. Huludao Zinc Industry also completed maintenance. So, their output increased. Yunnan Luoping Zinc & Electricity Co. stepped up production during high-water period. Moreover, zinc prices were high, and this also stimulated their production.
China’s refined zinc output will remain stable in July, SMM foresees.
SMM revised China's refined zinc output in May to 419,700 tonnes.
