SHANGHAI, Jul. 7 (SMM) – China looks set to become the main source for global aluminum scrap by 2025, Li Shilong, General of CIAR predicted.

SMM Data: China Aluminum Output Grows in June

Secondary aluminum capacity in China has exceeded 10 million tonnes so far, Li pointed out. China will enter the peak of aluminum consumption by 2020.

China Automotive Aluminum Consumption Way Below Forecast

With aluminum products in automobile, home appliance and construction sectors reaching the end of their service life, China will become the main source for global aluminum scrap by 2025.

With a total investment of RMB 1.5 billion, the project leverages the existing plant site to build an internationally advanced "1+4" hot continuous rolling line, supported by industry-leading aluminum processing equipment such as pusher-type reheating furnaces. The project has also built an industrial IoT system capable of real-time monitoring and dynamic regulation of core production parameters such as rolling force and temperature, effectively ensuring stable quality of high-end aluminum products and continuously increasing the market share of high value-added products.
