SHANGHAI, Jun. 29 (SMM) – China’s Ministry of Industry & Information Technology (MIIT) brought the country’s major aluminum smelters and the China Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA) together for a meeting yesterday.
MIIT Brings Major Chinese Aluminum Smelters and CNIA Together to Discuss Industry Issues
The meeting mainly discussed operations at smelters in H1 2017 and forecasts for aluminum industry trend in H2 2017. The meeting showed strong support for supply side reform, but did not propose production cut target.
Aluminum supply side reform is long process, SMM understands. Market should continue closely watching progress in reform implementation.
