Transport capacity for containers is already tight. This new rule will slow down shipments of alumina from Shanxi, China’s major alumina producing region, to Xinjiang, the country’s major aluminum producing region.

Alumina prices might get a boost from the new policy, SMM understands.

[SMM Flash] SHFE data shows that on July 7, total registered warrants for cast aluminum alloy stood at 23,237 mt, down 1,016 mt from the previous trading day.
