SHANGHAI, Jun. 23 (SMM) - Inner Mongolia has stepped up safety inspections after an explosion at Chifeng’s Baoma coal mine on December 3, 2016, which killed 32 people.
Some small local mines that failed to meet safety requirements were shut down during safety checks. Some medium and large mines were also affected.
As of mid-June, there were still hundreds of small mines remained closed in Inner Mongolia, SMM understands.
There are about 200 registered mines in Chifeng, with 10-20 large ones and over 100 small mines, SMM estimates.
