Global primary aluminum shortage eased notably during the first four months of 2017 compared with last year, according to latest data from World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS).

SHANGHAI, Jun. 22 (SMM) – Global primary aluminum shortage eased notably during the first four months of 2017 compared with last year, according to latest data from World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS).

During January-April, primary aluminum output worldwide increased 1.3 million tonnes year-on-year, while primary aluminum demand rose 1.58 million tonnes to 20.35 million tonnes. This created a deficit of 683,000 tonnes, versus 1.1 million tonnes in the whole of 2016, WBMS data showed.
