Imported zinc became more desirable for Chinese traders and downstream buyers due to expanded price spread between domestic and imported zinc, SMM said.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 19 (SMM) - Imported zinc became more desirable for Chinese traders and downstream buyers due to expanded price spread between domestic and imported zinc, SMM said.

The price spread between domestic and imported zinc expanded to 230-280 yuan per tonne. Spot premiums of domestic #0 zinc were barely changed June 19 compared to last Friday, while those for imported zinc fell further. Meanwhile, supplies of imported zinc are also sufficient due to continuous inflows to Shanghai market.

#0 zinc traded in a 22,250-22,500 yuan per tonne range in Shanghai June 14. #0 zinc prices in Guangdong were 22,320-22,480 yuan per tonne and 22,400-23,310 yuan per tonne in Tianjin.
