NEW YORK (Scrap Register): During the month of April this year Steel Scrap exports from United States has increased significantly, as per US Census Bureau and International Trade Commission. When the exports is compared with the the corresponding period last year it had a good growth rate.
US steel scrap imports during April was seen at 1.77 million tons, which is 27.4 percent higher year-on-year. Turkey is the major destination which imported major part of scrap from United States.
Turkey has imported about 18 percent of the total scrap exports from US to 315000 tons, which is 24 percent higher when matched between the corresponding period last year.
The US ferrous scrap exports has increased higher by about 30 percent during the first quarter of the current year. The US ferrous scrap exports to overseas destinations totaled 2.921 million tonnes during Q1 this year.
