US Steel shipments decrease 3.4 percent during April

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States Steel shipments has decreased by 3.4 percent to 7,428,080 net tons during the month of April this year, as compared to 7,692,434 net tons in March and a 0.7 percent increase from the 7,379,330 net tons shipped in April 2016, according to the latest figures released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

Shipments year-to-date in 2017 are 30,061,271 net tons, a 4.2 percent increase vs. 2016 shipments of 28,847,471 net tons for four months.

A comparison of April shipments to the previous month of March shows the following changes: cold rolled sheets, down 3 percent, hot rolled sheets, down 5 percent and hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, down 7 percent.
