SHANGHAI, Jun. 8 (SMM) – Societe Miniere de Boke (SMB) will be able to export 35 million tonnes of bauxite from Guinea per year once the third phase infrastructure project is completed, MiningSink reported.
SMB, co-founded by Singapore’s Winning International Group, China’s Hongqiao Group, Yantai Port Group and Guinea’s UMS, entered into production in July 2015. The JV exported 8 million tonnes of bauxite from July 2015 to July 2016 and exports hit over 10 million tonnes in 2016, challenging Guinea-based CBG’s leadership.
Construction of mining sites in the first two phases and Katougouma port has been finished. The third phase infrastructure project is scheduled to begin in 2017, with investment at $250 million.
