SHANGHAI, Jun. 1 (SMM) - Tianjin Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau discovered short-weight in zinc concentrate imports from Africa for the first time recently, cnmn.com reported.

Lead-Zinc Mines, Smelters in Hunan Return to Production after Environmental Protection, SMM Reports

The shipload of zinc concentrate imported from Eritrea weighed 10877.952 tonnes under bill of lading, which was discovered a short-weight of 208.952 tonnes in wet stage, or 19.21‰, compared to the 5‰ international level of claim for compensation. The short-weight is worth $36,000.

Kazzinc said on Tuesday that its zinc and lead plants at the Ust-Kamenogorsk metallurgical complex in eastern Kazakhstan are operating at reduced capacity following last week’s explosion. The incident occurred at Kazzinc’s zinc plant, killing three people and injuring five others. Kazzinc, Kazakhstan’s largest producer of zinc, lead and precious metals and owned by Glencore, has not disclosed the extent of the impact on output. Clean-up operations and an investigation into the incident are still ongoing.
