SHFE 1707 copper opened at RMB 45,920/mt and closed at RMB 46,000/mt, up RMB 90/mt.

SHANGHAI, May 26 (SMM) – On Friday, SHFE 1707 copper opened at RMB 45,920/mt and then declined to RMB 45,900/mt. During the afternoon trading, the contract stabilized above RMB 46,000/mt with short covering, and closed at RMB 46,000/mt, up RMB 90/mt. Trading volumes increase 67,000 to 270,000 lots and positions reduced 7,890 to 191,000.

SHFE market will close on Friday’s night for Chinese Dragon Boat Festival from May 28-30.

Panama to Allow First Quantum to Remove Copper Ore from Cobre Panama Mine

Panama’s government expects to issue a resolution by Tuesday allowing First Quantum Minerals to remove stockpiled ore from the closed Cobre Panama copper mine, Trade Minister Julio Molto said Monday.The mine holds about 38 million metric tons of stockpiled ore, which could yield roughly 70,000 tons of copper.
