SHANGHAI, May 18 (SMM) - Zambia’s copper production was hurt by the rainstorm and flood in the first quarter of 2017, which disrupted the country’s open pit mining operation, according to wenhua.com.

Bank of Zambia (BOZ) governor Denny Kalyalya said the country’s copper output slid 14% year-on-year to 166,647 tonnes in the first quarter of the year. But earnings from copper exports jumped 42% to $1.78, boosted by rebound in global copper prices.
