Operating Rate at China Copper Pipe to Rise in May, SMM Survey

The average operating rate at Chinese copper tube/pipe producers is expected to rise to 91.53% in May, SMM predicts based on the latest survey.

SHANGHAI, May 15 (SMM) - The average operating rate at Chinese copper tube/pipe producers is expected to rise to 91.53% in May, SMM predicts based on the latest survey.

About 95% copper tube/pipe producers see operating rates stay high in May.

The remaining 5% expect production to grow slightly further in May. The peak demand season should last until June. But it should be noticed that air conditioner inventories have exceeded 41 million sets, which will put pressure on orders at copper tube/pipe producers in the near term.
