NEW YORK (Scrap Register): For the national security reasons, The US Department of Commerce launched an investigation into the impact of aluminum product imports, which was generally unfazed by China's aluminum industry.
The central government has taken the control measures this year in respect to China's overcapacity of aluminum, and that could partly be a response to global concerns.
Earlier this month the country's government declared a expected 2 million mt per year smelters cuts at three Xinjiang plants this year, which is said to require government approval and they are yet to revive it.
As per the figures of China's General Administration of Customs, exports of unwrought aluminum and aluminum products was seen at 1.06 million mt during the first quarter of 2017, which was down from 1.6 percent on the year.
