SHANGHAI, Apr. 28 (SMM) – China has launched its third round of environmental protection inspections. How will this affect aluminum consumption?
The impact on aluminum consumption nationwide will be small, SMM understands.

Most aluminum extrusion producers in Tianjin have closed, hurting local consumption and pushing aluminum ingot stocks there up to 40,000 tonnes as of April 27. Since aluminum extrusion capacity in the region accounts for only a small share of national total capacity, the closures there will have limited impact on aluminum demand nationwide, SMM explained.
The inspections have little impact on aluminum extrusion producers in Liaoning, where most producers have completed environmental protection equipment upgrade, SMM learned.
