BHP Billiton Lowers Copper and Coking Coal Production Guidance for 2017

SHANGHAI, Apr. 26 (SMM) - BHP Billiton has cut annual production guidance of copper and coking coal for 2017 due to long-time strike at Chilean Escondida copper mine and bad weather in east Australia,  reported by foreign medium.

Coking coal output increased 2% YoY to 31 million tonnes over the nine months to March 31, and its annual output target has been cut to 39-41 million tonnes.

Copper output fell 20% YoY to 939,000 tonnes as of March 31 in response of a 44-day strike at the Escondida mine. The company thus has lowered the copper production guidance to 1.33-1.36 million tonnes in 2017 fiscal year.
