SHANGHAI, Apr. 24 (SMM) - News was reported 170,000 square meters industrial sewage pit was discovered in North China. Some galvanizers in the Daqiu Village, Tianjin received orders to cut production from April 15, SMM understands.

Strict environmental protection inspections continued in April in Daqiu, which have been undertaken in Hebei and Tianjin in March. About 50% galvanizers have yet to restart. The remaining left operating rates below 50%.

This round of environmental protection inspections will take a toll on domestic zinc consumption in April since Tianjin represents 17.9% of national zinc consumption. Production at some galvanizers in Handan and Renqiu was also restricted in April. Meanwhile, orders for galvanized tube/pipe and steel tower were also sluggish.
