China Hongqiao Sues Emerson for Defamation

China's Hongqiao Group is seeking legal remedy against Emerson Analytics Co. in Hong Kong’s High Court for defamation, Bloomberg reported. 

SHANGHAI, Apr. 12 (SMM) – China's Hongqiao Group is seeking legal remedy against Emerson Analytics Co. in Hong Kong’s High Court for defamation, Bloomberg reported. 

China's aluminum producer said the report, that alleged that Hongqiao had under-reported costs, benefited from subsidies from related third-parties, and engaged in false accounting producer under-reported costs, was defamatory. 

Hongqiao requires Emerson to respond within 14 days as to whether it will contest Hongqiao's claim, or make an admission.

Emerson didn't immediately respond to email seeking comment, and Hongqiao and company's external representative Bell Pottinger didn't immediately respond to emails seeking comment.
