SHANGHAI, Apr. 10 (SMM) - China’s refined zinc output was 430,000 tonnes in March, a slight drop of 0.17% month-on-month, almost flat at February, and down 4.03% year-on-year, according to SMM data.

Zinc smelters produced still actively since high zinc prices left their profit stable, SMM understands. Zhuzhou Smelter Group, Zijin Mining and Yuguang Zinc Industry reported stable production in March, with output up slightly. Other smelters did not cut output significantly.

Some smelters’ output recovered in April after maintenance, and declines in output will be unnoticeable.

China’s refined zinc production was 1.299 million tonnes during January-March, down 0.15% year-on-year. Output in April is expected to be 421,000 tonnes, with YTD output through April down 1.7% year-on-year.
