NEW DELHI (Scrap Register): India containerized shredded scrap import weekly average prices remained stable during the week ended March 17 this year, while India's major plastic scrap prices on the Scrap Register Price Index showed a mixed trend.

Indian containerized scrap import prices remained flat this week at $290 a ton CFR Nhava Sheva port. Pakistan emerged this past week as a strong buyer of shredded material, with deals heard in the $315- $320 a ton.

No Indian deals were heard at this level, instead the market seems to have gone quiet for the meantime, instead choosing to see the direction of global scrap prices, which look to have peaked in the past week.

It has also been reported that scrap imports into India fell 29% month-on-month in January.

The plastic scrap commodities like ABS(bayr), Acrylic, C.P.W, HD Blowing, Hips(Baff) and PVC resin desi showed a steady trend during the week, while API, HD Moulding (Colour), LLDP Blowing and PVC pest grade dropped during the week.
