SHANGHAI, Feb. 20 (SMM) - Vale Indonesia reported lower nickel output for 2016 and set new production plan for 2017 according to its statement.
The company produced 77,581 metric tons (t) of nickel in matte in 2016, 4.43 percent lower than 81,178 t in 2015, it said.
"Production in Q4 2016 was below plan due to a transformer failure at one of the electric furnaces, and achieved nearly 97% of our production target for the year," said Nico Kanter, CEO and President Director.
The 2017 production target is approximately 80,000 t, he added.
