BHP Billiton Lowers Copper Output Forecast for 2017

BHP Billiton Ltd. said it may lower copper production forecast for 2017 fiscal year due to suspension of supply from its Olympic Dam mine which is located in southern Australia, according to wenhua.co

SHANGHAI, Jan. 26 (SMM) - BHP Billiton Ltd. said it may lower copper production forecast for 2017 fiscal year due to suspension of supply from its Olympic Dam mine which is located in southern Australia, according to wenhua.com.

The company expects it copper production to be 1.62 million tonnes in the 2017 fiscal year as of June, down 2% from previous expectations. Output from Olympic Dam mine’s underground operation decreased.

It said copper output in the six months ending December 2016 decreased 7% to 712,000 tonnes. Output at Olympic Dam fell 30% due to maintenance and power supply disruption.
