NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States silver scrap prices slightly down on Friday, while silver futures prices at New York Mercantile Exchange settled down manly on strong dollar.
The major silver scrap commodities on the Scrap Register Price Index slightly down by 0.885 percent on Friday. The hallmarked silver scrap prices down to $13.798 an ounce and non-hallmarked silver scrap prices slightly up to $12.247 an ounce.
The most active March silver contract on the COMEX division of the New York Mercantile Exchange fell by 6 cents to settle at $16.765 an ounce on Friday, but ending about 1.5% higher for the week.
Several Fed officials cautioned that Trump's fiscal and tax plans could spur a short-term economic boost that would result in longer-run inflation and debt problems, potentially raising demand for bullion as an inflation hedge.
