Low Dollar to Support Base Metals, SMM Says

Base metal prices on the SHFE are expected to get support from a low dollar, Shanghai Metals Market predicts.

SHANGHAI, Jan. 16 (SMM) – Base metal prices on the SHFE are expected to get support from a low dollar, Shanghai Metals Market predicts. 

“The dollar now fluctuates at lows, and this will support base metal prices, but with possible declines technically,” SMM says. 

Key Macroeconomic Indicators for Base Metal Prices (2017-1-16)

Copper: 47,700-48,200 yuan per tonne
Aluminum: 13,350-13,550 yuan per tonne
Lead: 18,750-19,150 yuan per tonne
Zinc: 22,700-23,100 yuan per tonne
Tin: 148,500-151,500 yuan per tonne
Nickel: 86,200-88,400 yuan per tonne  

Note: Prices all above are for most-actively traded contract on the SHFE.
