Base Metals to Remain Weak, SMM Says

Base metal prices on the SHFE are expected to stay weak on Friday, Shanghai Metals Market predicts.

SHANGHAI, Jan. 6 (SMM) – Base metal prices on the SHFE are expected to stay weak on Friday, Shanghai Metals Market predicts. 

“The dollar weakened overnight, but base metals largely closed lower due to big resistance, and Shanghai prices are estimated to stay weak on Friday,” SMM says. 

Key Macroeconomic Indicators for Base Metal Prices (2017-1-6)

Copper: 45,200-45,950 yuan per tonne
Aluminum: 12,520-12,720 yuan per tonne
Lead: 17,400-18,200 yuan per tonne
Zinc: 21,250-21,600 yuan per tonne
Tin: 152,000-155,000 yuan per tonne
Nickel: 84,300-86,500 yuan per tonne
