Base Metals to Stage Weak Trading, SMM Says

Base metal prices on the SHFE are expected to keep weak trading on Thursday, Shanghai Metals Market predicts. 

SHANGHAI, Dec. 29 (SMM) – Base metal prices on the SHFE are expected to keep weak trading on Thursday, Shanghai Metals Market predicts. 

“LME base metal market reported weak price after returning from Christmas holiday, and overall sentiment is expected to remain weak due to tight year-end liquidity and low trading sentiment before year-end,” SMM says. 

Key Macroeconomic Indicators for Base Metal Prices (2016-12-29)

Copper: 45,100-45,900 yuan per tonne
Aluminum: 12,500-13,000 yuan per tonne
Lead: 17,200-18,000 yuan per tonne
Zinc: 20,700-21,000 yuan per tonne
Tin: 145,000-147,000 yuan per tonne 
Nickel: 84,500-86,800 yuan per tonne
