Base Metals to See Light Trading, with Price Declines Expected, SMM Says

Base metal prices are expected to drop across the board during the last trading week of 2016, Shanghai Metals Market predicts. 

SHANGHAI, Dec. 26 (SMM) – Base metal prices are expected to drop across the board during the last trading week of 2016, Shanghai Metals Market predicts. 

“Trading is expected to be light this week for Christmas and New Year holidays, and tight year-end liquidity will also negatively affect trading, and base metal prices will drop across the board, but any declines will be small,” SMM says.   

Copper: 44,600-45,050 yuan per tonne
Aluminum: 12,530-12,740 yuan per tonne
Lead: 17,800-18,500 yuan per tonne
Zinc: 20,700-21,050 yuan per tonne
Tin: 143,000-145,000 yuan per tonne 
Nickel: 86,000-88,600 yuan per tonne  

Note: Prices all above are for most-actively traded contract on the SHFE.
