SHFE 1701 Zinc Closes with Big Gains (2016-11-21)

SHFE 1701 zinc opened at RMB 20,870/mt, and rose to RMB 21,180/mt.

SHANGHAI, Nov. 21 (SMM) – SHFE 1701 zinc opened at RMB 20,870/mt, and rose to RMB 21,180/mt. In the afternoon, SHFE 1701 zinc surged to RMB 21,475/mt and closed at RMB 21,365/mt, up RMB 680/mt or 3.29%. Trading volumes increased 265,000 lots to 856,000 lots, and positions increased 16,404 to 255,000. Chinese yuan against the US dollar dropped to an 8.5-year low, supporting base metals. SHFE 1701 zinc is expected to remain strong in the near term.
