US Raw Steel production decreases 3.3% to 1,629,000 net tons

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production decreased by 3.3% to 1,575,000 net tons in the week ended on October 29, 2016, while the capability utilization rate was 66.4 percent, as per the latest figures from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

According to AISI, production was 1,629,000 net tons in the week ended October 29, 2015 while the capability utilization then was 68.1 percent. 

The domestic raw steel production for the week ended October 29, 2016 is down 1.4 percent from the previous week ended October 22, 2016 when production was 1,597,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 67.3 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through October 29, 2016 was 73,525,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 71.4 percent. That is down 1.9 percent from the 74,951,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 71.7 percent.
