ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import weekly average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) edged up to $226 a ton during the week ended September 02, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.
According to TSI, the daily benchmark index for deep-sea Turkish imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 increased $1 a ton week-on-week to $226 a ton.
After the flurry in buying activity last week, in which 12 cargoes were booked, appetite for scrap has waned.
A Turkish mill did however buy a bulk scrap cargo from a Canadian exporter on Monday at price levels that were in line with concluded prices last week.
The cargo contained 20kt HMS 90:10, 17kt shredded scrap and 13kt bonus grade at a composite price of $231 a ton, which under TSI’s methodology normalised to $225 a ton for 80:20.
