SAHNGHAI, Oct. 18 (SMM) - Lianyungang Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau reported China’s zinc ore imports transit the Port of Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province were only 40% of the same period of last year, as per cnmn.com.
Zinc imports in the first quarters of this year were 383,900 tonnes worth $218 million, down 57.75% and 60.51%, respectively, year-on-year.
Zinc ore output from Australia and Peru dropped precipitously this year due to soft demand from home appliance, automobile, construction and shipbuilding industries. High inventories also constrained imports by the port.
Zinc ore imports via Lianyungang will not improve noticeably any time soon.
