China Zinc Product Output Slid 2.8% in August but to Rise in September, SMM Reports

China’s zinc product output slid 2.8% year-on-year to 517,000 tonnes in August, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

SHANGHAI, Sep. 20 (SMM) - China’s zinc product output slid 2.8% year-on-year to 517,000 tonnes in August, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

The drop is because a large number of zinc smelters conducted maintenance, SMM said. But with restarts and profit, zinc product output is expected to grow in September.

Smelters still have profit given current domestic zinc concentrate TCs, SMM added.

Zinc product production during the first eight months of this year was 4.05 million tonnes, down 1% year-on-year.
