SHANGHAI, Sep. 14 (SMM) –Aluminum capacity in operation in China will continue growing in September due to new and restarted capacity, SMM predicts.
There will be additional 300,000 tonne increase in operational aluminum capacity this month, which will bring the country’s aluminum output to 2.67 million tonnes, SMM analyst said.

China’s aluminum output rose 4.9% year-on-year to 2.73 million tonnes in August, with annualized new capacity up 650,000 tonnes to 32.17 million tonnes.

Shandong Weiqiao Group, Shandong Xinfa Group, among others brought new capacity online, while other smelters, such as Gansu Liancheng Aluminum and Shanxi Zhaofeng Aluminum restarted idled capacity, SMM learned.
