Brazil May Extend Anti-Dumping Duty on Chinese Steel Pipes

Brazil is likely to extend the antidumping duty on Chinese steel pipes.

BRASILIA (Scrap Register): Brazil is likely to extend the antidumping duty on Chinese steel pipes. A study regarding extending duty over imports of seamless steel pipes from China is being done by Brazil's foreign trade board Camex.

Brazil had implemented a $743/mt duty Chinese carbon steel seamless line pipes, for oil and gas pipeline applications on September 8, 2011. The duty was valid for five years for the line pipes with diameter up to 5 inches, usually classified under HS code 7304.1900.

The Camex said that, termination of the anti dumping duty may lead to resuming of dumping practices and will also affect the domestic industry.
