Guangdong’s Jiangmen Imports Its First Shipload of Scrap Copper from South Korea

A shipload of 41 mt scrap copper worth $134,000 was imported recently by Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province transit the Port of Taishan.

SHANGHAI, Sep. 13 (SMM) - A shipload of 41 mt scrap copper worth $134,000 was imported recently by Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province transit the Port of Taishan, which is the first time for the city to import scrap nonferrous metals, local paper reported.

The scrap copper was imported by Kaiping Dachang Copper Material Co. from South Korea, and is mainly used to produce copper rod used in heating equipment.

The Port of Taishan initiated scrap material import in 2008, having imported waste paper and waste plastics previously.
