SHANGHAI, Sep. 9 (SMM) - Peru’s copper output was 201,867 tonnes in July, a rise of 30% year-on-year, according to the country's official data.
Las Bambas and Cerro Verde both contributed new capacity, with 400,000 tonnes and 270,000 tonnes, respectively. This is the main reason that the country’s copper output increased, SMM reckons.
Peru’s copper output is expected to grow 65.5% to 2.50 million tonnes this year, its Energy and Mines minister said, adding that the country may come in second of global largest copper producing countries this year.
