Pakistan Iron and Steel Scrap, Gold imports plunge in July

Gold Imports of Pakistan witnessed a decline of 24.27 percent in July 2016 as compared to corresponding period of last year.

ISLAMABAD (Scrap Register): Gold Imports of Pakistan witnessed a decline of 24.27 percent in July 2016 as compared to corresponding period of last year. During July 2016, 31 kg gold worth $1.27 million was imported compared to the import of 47 kg valuing $1.677 million in same month of previous year.

On month-on-month basis, the import of yellow metal also decreased by 24.09 percent as against the import of $1.673 million in June 2015, according to a latest data revealed by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The overall metal group import increased by 12.65 percent in July 2016 against the same month of preceding year. The metal group import went up from $260.407 million in July 2015 to $293.349 million in July this year while on month-on-month basis, the metal group import witnessed a decline of 26.93 percent.

The import of iron and steel scrap in July 2016 declined by 18.78 percent and 38.03 percent when it compared with the import of July 2015 and June 2016, respectively. The iron and steel scrap import was recorded at $63.176 million in July 2016 when compared with the import of $77.780 million in July 2015 and $102.097 million in June 2016.
