LONDON (Scrap Register): Northern Europe hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices down by €02 a ton week-on-week to €419 per ton in the week ended August 05, as per the latest figures released by The Steel Index.

Only a limited number of deals were observed this week in Europe, as the summer holiday season halted most of the trading.

HRC asking prices from North European producers remained close to €420/ton, and TSI’s benchmark index trended down by €2/t early in the week, remaining stable afterwards.

Some deals in the South European market were reported to be done close to the €370/t mark this week, although the majority of transactions were still in the €380-390/t range.
