LONDON (Scrap Register): The Southern European hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices down €5 a ton week-on-week to €380 a ton during the week ended August 05, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.

Only a limited number of deals were observed this week in Europe, as the summer holiday season halted most of the trading.

HRC asking prices from North European producers remained close to €420 a ton, and TSI’s benchmark index trended down by €2 a ton early in the week, remaining stable afterwards.

Some deals in the South European market were reported to be done close to the €370 a ton mark this week, although the majority of transactions were still in the €380-390 a ton range.
